Homeopathic Remedy for Reducing Stress

Ever have days you’re just worn out or stressed?  If you’re a mom, like I am, you know that if you’re stressed, under the weather, or sick - life just doesn’t stop for you to get better. Kids still want food and attention…and food…and attention.  Moms (whether a sahm, wahm, or working mom) have a lot on their plates.  I don’t think I have to tell you how stress can cause a whole bunch of other illnesses.

“If stress happens too often or lasts too long, it can have bad effects. It can be linked to headaches, an upset stomach, back pain, and trouble sleeping. It can weaken your immune system, making it harder to fight off disease. If you already have a health problem, stress may make it worse. It can make you moody, tense, or depressed. Your relationships may suffer, and you may not do well at work or school.”


What can you do about stress:

  • Find out what is causing stress in your life.
  • Look for ways to reduce the amount of stress in your life.
  • Learn healthy ways to relieve stress or reduce its harmful effects.

This week, just as the beginning of summer started sweeping in, so along came my allergies!  I was alternating between taking Claritin and Benadryl to try and keep symptoms at bay.  I also use an air purifier in the house, shut all the windows, and turned on the AC to try and reduce the pollens in the house.  With all these efforts, I still almost had to take a breathing treatment (which I try to only use at a last resort).  My whole body ached with my immune system in overdrive fighting the allergies, and I was stressed with still having the normal job as “mom” to do.

I decided to treat myself to a hot bath using the Sea Salt Bath Soak recipe.  This was the first time I had tried the Sea Salt Bath Soak for myself.  I included some drops of Eucalyptus Oil and some Massage Oil that had a blend of herbs in it.  After the bath, I was amazed that almost instantly the flu-like body aches started to disappear, relaxing me enough to fall asleep soundly.  When I woke in the morning, I had almost no congestion and most of the allergy symptoms gone.  I didn’t even have to take anymore antihistamine medications!

I love it when I find a good homeopathic remedy that works! 

How does it work?

Stress drains the body of magnesium and increases levels of adrenaline.  When dissolved in warm water, Epsom salt is absorbed through the skin and replenishes the level of magnesium in the body.  The magnesium helps to produce serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of calm and relaxation.

With all the health benefits I found from this natural recipe (which I listed in my previous post here), I will be adding taking a Sea Salt Bath Soak to my weekly regimen at least once or twice a week.

    For me the best stress reliever is having a long view. When I start to feel stressed about something, I think about the stress inducer’s life-span. I’m gonna be on the earth for about 70 years (hopefully longer). Is this inducer still gonna bother me 10-20 years from now? Most stress goes away from just that simple thought. Everything left (the *real* stress stuff) I give to God to work out.

      Yes, definitely having a positive outlook and right focus helps. However, research shows that stress causes actual physical changes in our bodies (I added to my post about this).
      I think that sometimes just “leaving it to God to work out” can be just as dangerous as someone who won’t take their child to a Dr. for a bacterial infection where antibiotics can greatly help. I believe God provides us all we need, including minerals of the earth to help replenish our bodies.

      Just another reason to be good stewards of our Earth.
